In the summer of '07 I went on my first trip to Ethiopia, Africa. I did not have a camera at the time but by the summer of '08 when I went on my second trip to Africa I purchased a Canon Rebel Xti. I captured some beautiful sunrises and some portraits of some amazing people I will always remember. I hope you enjoy these photos.

This is Cabato. Somewhere around 11 years old. Although he isn't sure exactly how old he is.

The poverty in Ethiopia is so heartbreaking. This is one of the very many homeless people I saw living in the streets.

This kid I met on the side of the road when one of our tires blew. We were surrounded by the local villagers within a few minutes and they didn't leave until we were driving off.

The first day in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, we played with a group of Ethiopians in a

few soccer games. This was the first kid to arrive at the game. He was so happy to see us. I didn't see him without a smile on his face the whole time we were there.

While eating at a small somewhat sanitary restaurant on the side of the road we discovered a North Carolina license plate nailed to this wall, along with tags from many different states and countries.

This young girl was one of the shepherdesses on the field that we played soccer on. I believe this was taken right after she herded the cows and goats off the soccer field in the middle of one of our games.

I took this picture from a van window traveling at 60 mph. I never met this girl. Never even

saw her face, But I will never forget her.

I traveled to Ethiopia again in the summer of '09 with the same camera plus a zoom lens and got some great photos of the wildlife in Ethiopia, Baboons, monkeys, boars, hippos, ect. But unfortunately my camera was stolen on the flight from Addis to Frankfurt, Germany and I never saw it again. I lost approx. 1500 pictures and was very upset. But I have the memories. And I will never forget. I cannot wait to go back to visit but I am sad that I will not be able to this summer due to school. This will be the first summer in 4 years I will not be in Africa.
